To support and strengthen local conservationists and FZS project partners.
The FZS Small Project Fund is designed to provide operating funds to African Nationals carrying out conservation and applied research projects. Projects may be part of lower or higher degree courses, or be independent pieces of work. In exceptional situations, funds may be awarded to expatriate researchers conducting work deemed to be of high conservation priority.
A project proposal outlining the project title, applicant's name and affiliations, contact information, dates for project and then the background, aims, methods, budget and budget justification should be submitted. A short section on the conservation significance of the project should be included. The proposal should be no longer than 2 pages, excluding the budget.
Applications may be made at any time, although funds are limited each year.

Applicants may generally apply for up to Euro 5,000 annually.
Applicants are expected to provide a midterm and final report on activities and results.
A midterm and final financial report, comprising a breakdown by budget line of expenditure, should be provided along with receipts.
FZS should be acknowledged in all publications.
